Ron has the thing. I’m not sure what the thing is, but I’m nearly positive he’s got it: see for yourself.
Ron Gallo got started on September 29th, 1987. Entering the world via waterslide, having fun is the little angel that rides in his perpetual motorcycle sidecar. He started to read and write by age 3 and that resulted in a lifelong pursuit of mass rebellion through pages and pages of nonsense in notebooks and getting detention weekly for elementary debauchery and asking teachers “if they were going to cry”, barreling down the blocks on a flaming skateboard, the world but a joke. Naturally, he grew out of his “thuglife” state, indulged in introspection and the arts and found a life of imagination as an ex-con gone nice guy who could channel his comments and demons into song. The first time he heard Son House and Robert Johnson he felt an undeniable truth, like they tapped into something engrained in each human soul. That feeling birthed the band that would later be stuck named Toy Soldiers and the singer and songwriter that is Ron Gallo.
Why did you choose these songs for On the Hill?
They we’re just the ones i was feeling, also a good handful of the songs from the upcoming solo record!
What else is going on in your world? What’s next?
Tomorrow, 1/30, first show billed under my name with a backing band, Satellite Hearts at Boot and Saddle. Then heading out to the west coast for 2 weeks for a solo, soul-seeking, wild adventure to play some shows, meet some people and see a desert. then Toy Soldiers will be back on the road in late February.
Where can we see and hear more of you?
